St Mungo’s Academy 40-Year School Reunion Event
In a heartwarming attempt to reconnect with the past, former pupils of St Mungo’s Academy are gearing up to celebrate 40 years since the school’s closure. The event aims to bring together old friends and teachers for a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
St Mungo’s Academy closed its doors in June 1984, paving the way for a new road construction project after the buildings were demolished. The closure led students to transition to nearby non-denominational schools or St Modan’s in Stirling for a Roman Catholic education.
Organizing the Reunion
Kim Reid, along with Malcolm McGregor and Anne-Marie Woods, is spearheading the reunion efforts. Their primary goal is to locate as many former pupils and staff members as possible to commemorate the school’s closure four decades ago. The trio has chosen the Dunmar House Hotel as the venue for the reunion, scheduled for Friday, October 11.
Embracing Nostalgia
The reunion will feature a disco, buffet, and plenty of opportunities for attendees to catch up and reminisce about the good old days. Kim expressed the sentiment behind the event, stating, “We thought since we’re all getting on a bit, now would be the best time to do it.” In addition to the festivities, Kim is on a mission to gather old photos of the school and students to share during the reunion.
