So, guess what? A Scottish distillery just went and won a super fancy award for its whisky. Stirling Distillery’s unaged whisky was all like, “I’m the Best Scottish New Make Spirit” at the World Whiskies Awards 2025 on Wednesday, March 26.
And get this, the whisky was made by a 19-year-old dude named Hugo McCann. Can you believe it? A teenager making award-winning whisky!
The folks at the distillery were all like, “Yeah, our New Make Spirit is the bomb, thanks to Hugo McCann’s mad skills. He could have gone to uni and all that, but he chose whisky-making and it totally paid off, right?”
So, Hugo’s parents, June and Cameron McCann, started Stirling Distillery, and now their daughter, Elle McCann, is the boss lady there.
Mr. C.McCann, one of the founders, was like, “We’re so stoked to be named Scotland’s top new make spirit. It’s pretty awesome to be in the same league as the best whiskies in the world. Huge shoutout to our team, especially Hugo, for being a total rockstar.”
He went on to say, “This is just the beginning for us at Stirling Distillery. We’re gonna make a name for ourselves in the whisky world, just you wait and see.”

Oh, and by the way, to celebrate their win, the distillery is gonna release a few casks in early 2026 with the award-winning new make spirit. So, if you’re a whisky lover and wanna invest in their future, now’s your chance.
Cask Club members will be the first in line to snag these exclusive releases.
Anyway, Stirling Distillery is all about making top-notch spirits and sharing their journey with whisky lovers everywhere. So, cheers to that!
