The creators of the popular Disney show Phineas And Ferb recently hinted at the return of the well-loved characters during a panel at the D23 event in California. Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, the co-creators, expressed their excitement about the show’s revival and even shared a sneak peek of the upcoming new series. The teaser included a rough animatic of the original characters singing a new song about a “brand new summer vacation.”
Phineas And Ferb originally aired for four seasons from 2007 to 2015, followed by a movie titled Phineas And Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe in 2020. During the panel, Povenmire and Marsh announced the return of the show with great emotion. High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale will be reprising her role as Candace Flynn in the new series and could be heard singing in the sneak peek.
Povenmire mentioned that for the original series, he used to draw a lot of the dance poses himself. However, due to time constraints for the reboot, he enlisted the help of TikTok star Cost n’ Mayor to choreograph a sequence for the new summer song. Despite initial fears about the revival, Povenmire expressed his excitement, stating that the new season has been fantastic and has an even greater energy compared to the original show.
The duo revealed that half of the original show’s writers have returned for the reboot, while the other half consists of writers who grew up watching the show. Olivia Olson, who voiced Vanessa Doofenshmirtz in the original series, has also returned as a writer for the new season. Povenmire and Marsh shared that they first came up with the idea for Phineas And Ferb back in 1992 and showed the audience some original sketches of the characters.
Despite facing rejections initially, including from Disney, the show eventually got commissioned in 2005. Povenmire and Marsh reminisced about their journey and how they pitched the show everywhere before finally getting the green light. Povenmire even joked about his goal of having a Phineas And Ferb rollercoaster at Disneyland, suggesting to “skin the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.”
Fans can look forward to season five of Phineas And Ferb, which is set to premiere soon. While an exact release date has not been announced yet, Povenmire assured that it will feature some of the best content they have ever produced. The creators are excited about the show’s revival and the opportunity to bring back the beloved characters for both old and new fans to enjoy.
