Shopwatch Pilot Scheme Launched in Stirling to Combat Anti-Social Behavior
A groundbreaking initiative aimed at combating crime and anti-social behavior in Stirling is set to revolutionize how retailers in the area work together to ensure a safer environment for all. The new Shopwatch pilot scheme, spearheaded by Go Forth Stirling, is poised to mirror the success of the existing Pubwatch system in the city.
Enhancing Communication and Collaboration
The Shopwatch scheme seeks to establish a robust network among retailers, the police, the Thistle Centre, and the city’s CCTV system. By fostering better communication and collaboration, businesses will have the tools to address disturbances effectively and proactively. This initiative will not only benefit individual retailers but also contribute to the overall safety and security of Stirling’s economy.
Project director, Danielle McRorie-Smith, emphasized the importance of this investment in improving communication channels and building confidence within the local business community. By addressing concerns related to crime and anti-social behavior, the Shopwatch scheme offers a practical solution for retailers to unite swiftly and securely in addressing safety issues.
Empowering Business Owners to Take Action
One of the key features of the Shopwatch pilot is the provision of two-way radios for BID businesses, enabling real-time communication and coordination during incidents. Additionally, training sessions and information sharing opportunities will be organized to ensure that all participants are well-equipped to utilize the system effectively.
Through regular meetings and collaboration with Retailers Against Crime (RAC), businesses will have access to SentrySIS, a crime-fighting platform that allows for incident reporting and information sharing. By leveraging this technology, business owners can alert their peers to potential threats, create evidence logs, and support law enforcement efforts in combating anti-social behavior.
Join the Movement Towards a Safer Stirling
As the Shopwatch pilot gains momentum, the goal is to involve at least 15 businesses to maximize the effectiveness of the system. By encouraging independent traders to join forces and work together, Stirling can further establish itself as a safe and welcoming destination for visitors, residents, and businesses alike.
Businesses interested in participating in the Shopwatch scheme are encouraged to reach out to Go Forth Stirling for more information and registration details. Together, we can create a stronger, more secure community for everyone in Stirling. Let’s make safety a top priority and build a brighter future for our city.
