A man from Forth Valley has been sentenced to jail for committing domestic abuse against his partner, which included a horrifying incident where he attempted to set her on fire.

Connor Orr, a 26-year-old resident of Gillies Hill, Cambusbarron, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on October 26 for sentencing. He confessed to engaging in a pattern of abusive behavior towards his partner between December 13, 2021, and May 31 of the following year at various locations, including Woodside Road in Alloa.

During this time, Orr physically damaged doors, verbally abused his partner by shouting, swearing, and making derogatory remarks. He even resorted to physical violence by grabbing her throat, pushing her, and spraying deodorant on her head. The most shocking act was when he attempted to set fire to her head by igniting the deodorant with a lighter.

Sheriff Neil Bowie, who presided over the case, condemned Orr’s actions as a severe case of domestic abuse that spanned over five months, even occurring while Orr was under supervision. The sheriff highlighted the terror that Orr’s partner must have experienced during the attempted fire incident, describing it as a horrifying ordeal for the young woman.

As a result, Orr was sentenced to eight months in jail and was also given a three-year non-harassment order to protect his partner from any future abuse.
