Connect Alloa recently participated in the Big Ideas 2023 Retreat at the University of Stirling organized by Youth Scotland. The Clacks charity brought along a group of two staff members and eight young people for a two-day getaway camp filled with exciting activities and team-building exercises.

Dave Crozier, the Connect and Grow project leader, emphasized the importance of such events in helping young people build confidence, learn new skills, and interact with peers. He highlighted how the retreat allowed participants to step out of their comfort zones and experience being away from home, which can be a significant milestone for many.

During the retreat, while the younger members engaged in various fun activities, the staff members conducted sessions on children’s rights and facilitated other workshops. Outdoor sessions were also part of the agenda, including challenges like assembling a tent without instructions and participating in a scavenger hunt.

The event not only provided a platform for personal growth and skill development but also offered an opportunity for older participants to take on leadership roles and mentor their peers. By fostering an environment of mutual support and responsibility, the retreat aimed to benefit all attendees, regardless of their age or experience level.
