stirling-company-exceeds-hospice-fundraising-goal-by-nearly-double

A Stirling firm has managed to collect a whopping £19,000 for a hospice, totally crushing their fundraising goal. Merck, a science and technology company located in Stirling, saw their employees rally together to raise this impressive amount for Strathcarron Hospice in 2024. This achievement is even more remarkable considering they nearly doubled their initial target of £10,000.

Merck, a company that operates throughout the UK, has been actively fundraising for Strathcarron Hospice since 2020. Last year, in 2023, they raised a total of £9,201.75, and they set an ambitious target of £10,000 for the following year. The employees at Merck’s Stirling site have shown incredible dedication to supporting the hospice, participating in various fundraising activities such as the Kiltwalk, abseils, zip slides, marathons, head shaves, charity nights, bake sales, raffles, and even donating profits from their tuck shop.

Roslyn Cameron, the Director of Operations and Stirling Site Manager at Merck, expressed her delight at being able to contribute to Strathcarron Hospice through this donation. She highlighted the personal connection many of their colleagues have with the hospice, making this cause especially meaningful to them. Despite being a small site with only 93 employees, raising £19,000 is an incredible feat that they are all proud of. It seems like they had a lot of fun along the way, working together as a team to surpass their fundraising goal.

Claire Kennedy, a corporate fundraiser with Strathcarron, extended her gratitude to Merck and its staff for their generous donation and ongoing support. She commended the enthusiasm and drive shown by Merck employees in not only meeting but exceeding their fundraising target. This contribution will greatly impact the hospice’s ability to provide essential palliative and end-of-life care services to those in need within their community.

Strathcarron Hospice requires £16,637 each day to deliver the specialized care and services to their patients. In the previous year, 2022-23, the hospice cared for 323 patients in their 24-bedded unit and supported 357 hospice at home patients through 3,286 visits. The impact of Merck’s fundraising efforts will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of those who rely on the hospice’s services.

Overall, Merck’s achievement in raising £19,000 for Strathcarron Hospice showcases the power of teamwork, dedication, and community spirit. It’s heartwarming to see a company come together to support such a worthy cause, and the impact of their generosity will be felt for years to come. It’s not really clear why this matters, but maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this kind of news is what we all need more of in today’s world.
